This is my new puppy Maya, she is 3 months old born May 5 this year. I have been clicker training her for about 9 days and we’ve had her for about 14 days total. We use the harness for walking her and the bell to notice when she stops so we don’t yank her head off, the harness has worked a lot better then a regular collar when we go on walks.

askyours: One of my exboyfriends was a policeman and after a few years he told me the majority of police in his department shouldn’t be allowed to carry a gun , they have so many issues. I feel sorry for the nice guys that accidently have to work with the bad ones.
most cops were beat up in school and there on a power trip now, some are just legal murders, yes they will kill at first opportunity,

Im 13 and I tried to potty train my dog but he peed where I wanted him to pee for only 1 week now hes starting to pee everywhere again. I need a trainer that is good at potty training dogs.
first be sure to have him on a feeding schedule.. then you will know when he has to potty.
dante gets breakfast at 7 and a drink.. then i pick everything up for the day.. then dinner at 6 with a drink. i pick up his water around 8 and listen to see if he drinks anymore. when he drinks, just take him out to potty a few minutes later.
after he goes, give him lots of hoorays and hugs adn scratches… then he knows he did a good job.
also, be sure to clean up the old potty spots in the house reallly good. then he cant smell where he went and think its ok to go there again.

My dog does not need as much excercise as she used to. She’s inside from 7 a.m to 4:30 p.m and she used to need at least two hours, not continously, of walking before she would go to sleep at 8 p.m. Now all she needs is two thrity minute walks and she’s ready for sleep. She’s been like this for about a month and she’s nearly 7 years old. She is a mixed breed, stocky build but usually high energy dog about 60 pounds. Is this something I should be worried about?
Has your dog been gaining weight? Weight gain can slow down a dog, as can age. As this is a sudden decrease in activity level, you should definately take your dog to the vet. There could be an underlying medical reason she suddenly has less energy.
Other common symptoms to watch for:
- loss of appetite
- external injuries (sprained muscles, sore spots)
- changes in elimination patterns/consistency
- changes in her stool
- changes in her general mood
Have the dogs met a cat before? If so, how have they reacted? Are they interested, aggressive, don’t care? If it is aggressive in any way, you don’t need a kitten or cat. That is an unhealthy environment for both animals, and that won’t do much good.
If you’ve had good reactions (or you have the kitten on trial) supervise a visit with each dog one at a time. You may want to have the dog on a leash to further prevent problems. Of course they may or may not be interested in each other. Just remember that introductions need to be pleasant and supervised. You may need to supervise for a month to make sure things are going well (the animals may change as the cat settles)

I’m trying to buy a good dog training book so I can train my dog at home. There are so many I don’t know which ones would be the best to get. So if you’ve ever used a dog training book, let me know what you thought about it.
Two MUST read books for you are Dog Problem: Gentle and modern solutions by David Weston and The Other End of the Leash by Patricia McConnell. ETA: I would stay away from the Koehler Training book, I just read it and its appauling. In general stay away from books that focus on negative training.
